Dr. Leigh Rigler brings more than 13 years of veterinary experience to Hickory Veterinary Hospital, along with a strong background in clinical medicine, veterinary leadership, and emergency response.
A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Dr. Rigler graduated from North Carolina State University in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science before earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Oklahoma State University in 2013.
In addition to her work in private practice, Dr. Rigler has served as a K9 Veterinarian with Virginia Task Force 2 Urban Search and Rescue, supporting the health and readiness of search-and-rescue dogs working in demanding emergency environments. Her years in practice have given her extensive experience caring for pets through every stage of life while working closely with families to provide thoughtful, compassionate, and individualized veterinary care. She is very passionate about client education, preventative medicine, and soft tissue surgery.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Rigler shares her home with an especially memorable crew of four-legged companions: Frodo, a Scottish Fold Munchkin cat; Nakey, a Sphynx cat; Dennis, a bully mix; and Aemon, an Australian Shepherd. She enjoys spending quality time with her husband and her two children on her days off. Her hobbies are traveling, amusement parks, baseball games, and board games! Dr. Rigler is excited to join the team at Hickory Veterinary Hospital and looks forward to building lasting relationships with clients while helping their pets live happy, healthy lives.
